Our English in the Workplace Award

Donna & Carol 1.JPGCarol Logan, our Director of Human Resources, accepted the Champion of the English in the Workplace Program award at the WINS Language Programs Recognition Event July 31st at Halifax City Hall.

The award was presented to acknowledge the long term relationship the Prince George Hotel has had with English in the Workplace, a program of the Halifax Immigrant Learning Centre.

English in the Workplace, which started in 1993, has been working with the Prince George Hotel since 1995, providing job-specific language training to immigrant employees in our Kitchen, Laundry, Housekeeping departments.  The training takes place at the hotel during the working day in close consultation and cooperation with supervisors and human resources staff.

Donna McLean, English in the Workplace Manager, said "The Prince George Hotel is the employer we have been working with the longest, and we continue to have a rich relationship with them, so we thought it suitable they receive our very first Champion of the English in the Workplace Program Award."

At the event, 4 PG employees were awarded certificates for graduating from the English in the Workplace program.
