Not One, But Two Clefs d'Or Concierges to Serve You!

Concierges.jpgPenny Cameron and Andy McIntosh are proud Concierges at the Prince George Hotel.  Both members of the Atlantic Concierge Association and of Les Clefs d'Or, they have recently obtained their first set of "Golden Keys" from Les Clefs d'Or.  Penny Cameron is the first female to receive the keys in Atlantic Canada, and the PG is the only hotel in Atlantic Canada that has two Clefs d'Or Concierges.

Les Clefs d'Or is an international association of hotel concierges, whose motto is "In Service Through Friendship!".  You can recognize Clefs d'Or Concierges by the crossed golden keys they wear on the lapels of their jackets.  The keys are more than just the insignia of the organization; they are the symbol of guaranteed quality service.  The mandate of the Clefs d'Or Concierge is to accommodate every guest request, as long as it is morally, legally and humanly possible.

Penny Cameron has been in the hotel industry for 25 years and Andy McIntosh has 19 years of hotel experience.  Andy held a number of positions within the hotel before joining the Concierge team.  As Head Concierge, Andy feels that he has reeally found his niche during his 9 years in the department.  "Fostering relationships with guests is the highlight of my position", says Andy.  One guest that Andy remembers with fondness was an 8-year-old young man staying at the hotel with his parents during their relocation from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia.  This young guest was just getting over the chickenpox and coincidentally, Andy was also just getting over the chickenpox.  With this in common, they developed a special bond and Andy received a memorable card from the young guest, thanking Andy for his friendship and for making such a difference.

Penny Cameron started her career with the PG as Executive Secretary to General Manager Nicholas Carson.  A decade ago, Penny moved to the Guest Services department to discover her most natural talent for service.  "As a Concierge, I am so fortunate to have a position that involves all the elements of things I love and am good at... helping people, and feeling that have made a difference, even to just one person's day, is extremely satisfying to me, and I am passionate about my role at The Prince George."

The Atlantic Concierge Association, affiliated with Les Clefs d'Or Canada, meets once a month at various locations in Halifax and has a growing membership of dedicated professionals from the major hotels and resorts in Nova Scotia.  Their motto is "Our door is always open!"
