Not Impressed for the first time at The Prince George :-(

Hi, I have stayed at The Prince George many times over the years and this is the first time that i left disappointed . My wife and i booked a weekend away from the children for the 1st time in a long time and with your great weekend prices , this was a bonus . Upon arrival , we parked underground , and all was fine till we lugged our luggage up one flight of stairs to see the elevator " outta order " ...now we had to walk 4 flights to lobby and my wife had recently had a leg operation , so this wasn't very pleasent . We checked in with no problems , and did view the renovations on going , that was fine , but we were never notified when we did book , but we did mention to the front desk that we had this issue with stairs and the elevator being outta order , but we were told that there were signs in parkade telling us , but certainly there wasn't . Anyhow , we did have a nice room and a great evening with a meal , but then sunday morning , awaken before 8am , with the noise of house maids outside the hall ways making very loud noise and laughing etc.. we did call front desk and my wife actually went into Hall and told them to be quiet , this was not very nice to awake up to . Cheers Scottie & Laurie

Dear Mr. Covey,

Thank you for taking the time to participate in our guest satisfaction survey.

I am sorry we let you down on this last stay with us.  I am excited about our renovations because I think the end result will be something our valuable guests will really love but unfortunately we will have a few growing pains along the way.

I am sorry these growing pains affected your time with us.  I am happy to report the parking elevator is back in commission - I am sorry this impacted your visit with us.

I am grateful you chose to make the Prince George Hotel your home while staying in Halifax and our team hopes to welcome you back very soon so you can let us know if you like what we have done.

Thanks again,

Scott

Great

We were in Halifax displaying Something Borrowed Vintage rentals from Truro at the Bridal Show. Our location made accessing the WTCC very easy. We really appreciated getting a late check out and not having to move our car until 5 pm. All of the employees we connected with were amazing! I would hire each and every one of them. It would have been nice to have a small continental breakfast.

- Margie MacDonnell - Purdy

You can't have any of them Ms. MacDonnell - Purdy....lol.  I will put up a fight for every one of them but you can visit them however whenever you like..... which we hope is real soon,

Perfect!

The service was stellar, right from the opening of the door, the front desk and even the house keeping staff I encountered. I had my Daughter staying with me who is at a local university We turned the room into a cave for her and she slept until two...in quiet and comfort of the room and bed!

- Kirk Tilley

lol to the cave comment Mr. Tilley - I have never heard our rooms referred to as that before.

Shelter from the Storm at the Prince George

Snowstorms are beautiful events in nature and especially appreciated these these days of climate change when we are uncertain of how many more are left. They also wreak havoc on air travel so when my flight was cancelled just four minutes after i reached the Halifax airport i was at a loss for what to do next. there was no way out the airport was closing. i had stayed at the Prince George over the past two nights. It was a very pleasant expereince. it's a modern and sophistacated hotel and yet feels confortable and cozy like an inn. Located in the city center and up the hill so it affords nice views of the city and the harbour. The staff were to person courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. It had been a very pleasant and restful stay. On the long cab ride back to city i contemplated where to stay on this unexpected layover and considered several other hotels, new venues, new experience, other locations... but in the end as snow was turning everything white i decided to return home to the Prince George. Thanks for a great stay!

- Sam Tsemberis

Love you refernce to "home" Dr. Tsemberis - Thank you.

Mission accomplished!  See you soon we hope.

The hotel has undergone some renovations. The renovations that have been completed are great but the sooner you get the rest ( front lobby are ) completed, the better. I ( and my wife ) have always enjoyed staying at the Prince George when in Halifax. It's very central to everything and the newly renovated rooms are great.

The end is nearing Mr. Clark - we are very excited to see what our guests think.

Friendly staff, great location and amenities

From Check in to check out and everything in between, your staff made my stay very comfortable and personalized! I had a great dining experience in your restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. I will be back and definitely recommend. Thanks!

- Ashley MacKinnon

I love our beds too Ms. MacKinnon.  I recently stayed the night and left thinking I run this place I should have one of these beds at home - lol.

Convenient

We've stayed at the Prince George several times and each time it has been a good experience. The location is good for downtown business and pleasure activities. The room was very adequate and clean. Upon arrival we were told that we had been upgraded for no extra charge and that we would be entitled to a complimentary breakfast. There was a little confusion over this, first we were told that breakfast was on the 6 th floor and then we were told, no it's on the main floor. Wherever it was we did not attend. This feature should have been a little more defined. Overall we enjoyed our night and will come back again.

- Robert Hopkins

Dear Mr. Hopkins,
Breakfast is not usually this confusing - my apologies for this error and I have every confidence this will not be an issue moving forward.

Again my apologies,
Scott

Great service

We've stayed at the Prince George before and really liked the whole experience from booking the room to the wonderful location. The room we had on the 9th & 10th (536) overlooked the waterfront and really enjoyed the view. We especially appreciate how clean the room was. The room we had on the 15th (533) didn't have much of a view, but we were more concerned with our flight home. We enjoyed our breakfast on Friday & Saturday morning and the short walk to and from the Five Fisherman for dinner. We usually visit our friends once a year and the Prince George is a welcome place to connect through.

- Paul Bagnall

Parking elevator is back up Mr. Bagnall - my apologies for this inconvenience.  Nice comments about Christine are something that isn't new to us but I can assure you of two things.  The first is we never get tired of hearing about them and the second is we definitely never get tired of relaying them to Christine.

A Happy Mother

I booked this for my parents for a special Christmas gift . My mother's health is not the best and I'm not sure how things will be from year to year. In there younger days they would go down to Parade Square to watch some of the Entertainment and the Fireworks on New Years Eve. She now has gone blind and has come down with Dementia and with the cold weather also outside, it now makes it harder to take her out to watch and hear this . Having been able to book a room facing the Parade Square and the height , she was able to enjoy the feeling and noise of being there in person. To this day she tells me about how much she liked the hotel and how friendly your staff were to them .

- Christine & Gary Russell

Being part of special instances like you have described Ms. Russell is one of the many amazing parts of the job.  Thank you very much for sharing and we will see you all again next New Years Eve,

Amazing 50th anniversary celebration for my parents

Earlier this week, I learned that my parents would be in town for their 50th wedding anniversary, so I had little time to plan. I wanted somewhere nice but which would accommodate my little nieces and nephews and my teenage sons. I decided on the Prince George because of the photos online and was not disappointed. From the impeccably laid out table to the artfully presented sweet tray, everything could not have been more perfect. Beautifully plated lobsters accompanied the delicious breakfast buffet, and the staff were incredible-- courteous and aptly managing a crowd of breakfasters as well as my busy crew. Ada said she would make sure it was a special breakfast and she did.. And then some! Stephanie and Chantal were just great! The bears for the kids were the icing on the cake. My parents were so touched and said it was the perfect morning. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so wonderful.

- Denise Parrott

The pleasure is all ours Ms. Parrott.  Thank you for mentioning so many team members by name.  It means a lot and I will definitely pass your kind comments along.

Fantastic

January 14th was my partner's 70th birthday and I booked an executive King suite on the 6th floor. The room was fantastic and the service was great, as always. We later ate at Gio and the food was also fantastic. The PG is definitely a 5 star hotel all the way. I have booked a room at your hotel again on the 19th of January to further celebrate my partner's birthday "week". I'm sure everything will be amazing! Cheers, Julie Sherriff

Goodbye Old Year, Hello New Year in Perfect Style

Scott, We decided to do something different for the NYE celebration. Our plans included a trip to Bearly House of Blues to listen to Christine Campbell and we immediately thought of the Prince George as our accommodation provider. As always you had some amazing deals for the event and we took advantage of the Crown Floor two night special. Check-in at 4pm on NYE was fast, efficient and most friendly despite the line-up. Our room was perfect with a view of the Grand Parade. We decided then that if the music at Bearly's was not to our liking we would have the perfect vantage to ring in the New Year. Well as it turns out the music at Bearly's was outstanding and we walked home quite late, only to be greeted most kindly in the lobby by the concierge. We enjoyed a continental breakfast in the morning compliments of the Crown Room. We lazed in bed watching tv and people watching on Argyle Street, it was a most relaxing and enjoyable morning. A quick walk around the block led us straight back to our room for a movie and some bubbly. We attended the levee at Bearly on NY Day and enjoyed a wonderful jam session and the talents of many Halifax musicians and vocalists. When we returned to our room there was a voice-mail waiting inviting us to the buffet next morning. It was a great top-off to a wonderful mini-holiday. As always thank you for taking care of our accommodation needs so magnificently. Regards Richard and Sandra

- Richard Snow

Thank you Mr. Snow for your kind words - we appreciate your support and look forward to your next trip to Halifax.

A wonderful New Years eve.

My wife and I decided to spend New Year's eve in Halifax, dinner at the the Five Fishermen, A christmas Carol at Neptune and then a few drinks with friends in a local bar. After the zoo that we saw over the last couple of years, we decided to stay in town. Hence we wound up at the the Prince George. The staff were attentative and friendly, and professional in all our dealings with them. From the doormen to the desk staff to the housekeeping staff. all were extremely polite and warm.

Happy New Year Mr. Tufts - thank you for ringing in another one with us.

Great Way to Bring in the New Year

I made reservations for my wife and I, son and girlfriend, and two other couples to enjoy the wonderful experience at the P.G. And we certainly did enjoy. We went to Neptune on the 30th and the Grand Parade on New Year's eve. Yes it was noisy, on New Years but I would have been disappointed if it hadn't. It is New Years after all.

- Wayne Crossan

Thanks for staying with us Mr. Crossan.  The first aid kit is stocked now - thanks for letting us know and I hope the stitches have healed.

Comfortable place to be snow bound!

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at The Prince George recently to attend a game at The Metro Center with extended family. Due to a snow storm, the game was cancelled and most businesses in the downtown core were shut down. We were truly warm and comfortable staying mostly indoors for those 2 days - the hotel lobby area was being renovated so there were some delays with elevators, which was understandable. The only negative thing, and it's a small one, is that the vending machines were basically empty or out of order (5th floor) with so many guests stuck indoors. Everything else was great from the front desk staff to the lovely room to our room service meal!

- Nancy MacDonald

Dear Ms. MacDonald,

I am sorry the game was cancelled but that was quite the storm  - that's for sure.  Hard to believe today's weather in Halifax is the complete opposite.  Sunny and 10 degrees!  Who knew?

The next time you stay with us remind me to show you where the new sports bar in town is.  It would be a perfect place to watch the game!

My apologies for the hiccup with the vending machine and room service.  Both issues will not affect a future stay and I hope we get a chance to prove that to you very soon.

Comfortable

The service was great! There were only a couple of issues. We stayed in a Crown Suite. We had no bathrobes or our dine-in menu for the continental breakfast that is complementary with our stay. When this issues were brought up to the staff, they were very polite and helpful at correcting the issues! Besides the minor issues our stay was great! You have a great and friendly staff!

- Jim Lawson

Most awesome New Years Eve ever!!!!!!

Christmas 2012 my boss gave me a gift certificate to the Prince George for my husband and I to get away. We have a three year old at home and get away's are not as easy as they once were. I saved my gift certificate and used it for a New Year's Eve 2013 get away. We had an awesome room and a great night. Both my husband and myself were so impressed with how quiet our hotel room was, even with folks "ringing in the New Year." We really enjoyed Halifax and had a great time. We can not wait to do it again sometime. Your staff at the Prince George are great. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They made our stay that much more enjoyable. Even at check out, the young man who waited on me was from Montague, PE. He took the time to introduce himself and chat. I can't say enough good about your hotel. Thanks so much. Tracey MacEwen

First time to a Mooseheads game!

I moved to the Atlantic a couple years ago and thought I should break down and go to a Mooseheads game. I won a free night at the Prince George Hotel in a golf tournament earlier in the year that was suporting prostate cancer. When I found out the location of the hotel to the Metro Centre and the Keg was right across the street as well it was easy to convince my wife to go to the game. The parking was also perfect. I heard there was a great buffet so I was looking forward to it for Sunday morning but apparently it was closed on December 29th. I seen what looked like a continental breakfast so I thought that was good but was told it was only for the 6th floor? I was told about the parking when I checked in and they said when you check out we will validate it for you which I thought was great as this must be included. I was a little surprised when I checked out they said the parking was $25. All in all it was a good clean room, hospitality was good, location is fantastic! The perfect place to stay if you are going to attend any event at the Metro Centre so you can have a few drinks and not worry about driving.

- Martin Jones

It seems like we didn't inform you of the parking charge Mr. Jones - my apologies and I will definitely remind the team this is a key piece of information when someone is booking a room.  My apologies for this affecting your visit and I am glad to know you otherssie enjoyed your night with us......

So in the words of Betty White.... When are you coming (back)?  It's not California but it makes a great getaway from the winter blues!

Soon we hope,

Wonderful stay!

We really enjoyed staying at the hotel, the service was excellent and the convenient location made it easy for us to get to our concert. Our daughter, Veronica, loved the pool and the accessibility of our room was fabulous. We enjoyed the room service for breakfast and the concierges were very helpful bringing our belongings in and out. I had stayed at the hotel years ago as a teen for March break and this reminded me of the wonderful experiences I had then.

Everything was fine....a little short on hotel staff over the time we were there but not a big problem. We had breakfast two of the mornings. As usual, the breakfast was great.
